Croatia is a lucky country located in the very center of Europe with many resort places closer and easier reachable for European citizen than those of Italy or Spain. It's location can be compared to Cote d'Azure in France though less urbanized and providing more nature and ecology.

 

 


If we go to Croatia by car, we find that it's coastal line is just:

  • 530 km from Munich
  • 550 km from Bratislava
  • 510 km from Budapest
  • 490 km from Vienna
  • 470 km from Milan
  • 430 km from Innsbruck
  • 300 km from Graz
  • 130 km from Udine or Ljubljana

 

All those locations are within half a day of a joy ride.

 

It should be noted that not long before to joining EU Croatia has built excellent network of new highways with yet low traffic which makes travel by car a refined pleasure.

 

If you like to go there by sea, there are ferry lines from Venice to Pula, Umag, Rovinj, Porec, Rabac, from Rijeka and Zadar to Ancona, from Dubrovnik to Bari.

 

If you wish to fly the international airports of Pula, Zadar, Split, Dubrovnik and Zagreb are at your disposal. There are also minor ones on Brac and Krk used frequently by discounter airlines.
Germanwings and Ryanair are the most popular to bring customers from Germany and from the UK. Ryanair flight London-Pula-London costs from 73 euro.

All regular flights are available too. For example, a return ticket from London to Dubrovnik (the most remote south point in Croatia) by the British Airways will cost you 180-200 euro.

 

If you prefer to travel by train – Italian speed trains take you to Trieste, from where a regular bus takes you to Croatia within 30 minutes. There are trains Vienna-Zagreb twice a day and a train Vienna-Rijeka once a day. There are about 12 trains per day on Ljubljana-Zagreb direction, three trains per day connecting Zagreb to Budapest and a few trains transporting passengers to Zagreb from Beograd. You can also come to Zagreb and then to Split and other coastal destinations by Croatian Railway.

 

If you prefer bus – it is most developed mean of transport in Croatia with network connecting the coast by numerous routes.

 

All sorts of rent-a-car companies are available in Croatia as well including international brands – Hertz, Avis, Budget, Sixt.
