Croatia re-opened after COVID-19

Croatia re-opened its borders after COVID-19 on May 10th and since that time, as Minister of Internal Affairs Davor Bozinovic reported, over 132,000 foreign citizens and almost 146,000 Croatians entered Croatia. The visitors mostly come by car. On the border, they need to present proof of ownership for their real estate or ownership/leasing of a vessel or a business invitation from a Croatian company to attend a business meeting. Even the tourists may come if they have a confirmation of a hotel/camping booking. Answers by the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the most frequently asked questions can be found here: mup.gov.hr/uzg-covid/286210  You can choose English, German or Croatian language to get replies.
Medical confirmations of no COVID-19 infection are not required, and no 14-day quarantine introduced. “Business as usual”, and “tourism as usual” are back in Croatia except for social distancing requirements, like 1,5-2 meters of space between people in supermarkets, restaurants, and bars. Hotels have undertaken special disinfection measures to guarantee 100% COVID-free accommodation.
The general concern is how re-opening affected the dynamics of COVID-19 in Croatia. The country performed quite well: by May 22d it had a total of 2,237 infected and 97 deaths, Only 3-5 people were registered as infected every day since the border opening, so there was no upward tendency in the pandemic in Croatia after re-opening. These figures make the government quite enthusiastic about the prospects of the tourist season in Croatia.
You are welcome to come to Croatia, one of the COVID-cleanest countries in Europe!
